Time for the driveway permit. This permit was one my township required to have completed before the building and county zoning permits could be issued.
I had no idea how complicated driveways, location, and culverts could be. Most of the issue was coordinating the builder and the township guys to a time that they can meet at the property and discuss these things. After a long, drawn-out, 5 minute discussion last week at the property, the issue was resolved!
I did find out that there are only a few companies that build the driveway or dig out the basement/foundation that my builder works with. In fact, there are so few that our builder only gets one day a week to get on his preferred company’s schedule and our days are Tuesdays. Apparently, this company can get a house-sized hole dug in just a day.
Now on to the final two permits (building and county zoning). In theory as far as I know, these should be the last ones and the house can go on a dig schedule. Fortunately, I don’t have to do anything for these. One or two more weeks and then we begin construction!
